The History of Jazz Dance is an Undergraduate, 3 unit completely online course suitable for anyone interested in this important American social and theatrical dance form of the 20th century.  Recommended for college students who need to complete G.E. requirements, for teachers of jazz dance at the high school and college level, and as an elective for college dance majors.

About the Instructor

Lara Branen co-founded and directed the Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop for 4 decades - a summer dance intensive held in Boulder, Colorado as well as professional dance company Interweave Dance Theatre of Boulder established in 1995. Interweave is listed in the new book Rooted Jazz Dance. Lara received the Living Legends of Dance Award from the University of Denver in 2018 in recognition of her work with Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop and Interweave. She holds a Masters in Dance from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She has taught dance (primarily jazz dance) at Santa Rosa Junior College since 1988.
